"Dad originally called this `The Broad Mississippi' and then changed title later on the back of the painting. He painted it for Fortune Magazine when he went down to cover the Mississippi River floods in 1937. He described this spot as the `L.S. Levee and River at Hickman' in Kentucky. The painting was exhibited at the Ferargil Gallery in NYC in 1937."
