Horse and Rider, (Westport), 1973, an original watercolor painting by Hardie Gramatky. This painting is available as a giclée art print on premium watercolor paper.
"Painted in Dr. David Beck's fields next door to our house, this painting was exhibited in the National Academy of Design and the Franklin Mint Gallery of American Art in Franklin Center, PA in `73, and the Ostreicher Gallery in 1974. My mother got a letter ten years after it was painted (Dad had died) from the young girl on the horse, asking about the painting. Unfortunately, by the time my husband and I saw the note, Amy McKenzie had moved away from 14 Morton Street in NYC and her phone was disconnected. If only she'd had an uncommon name like Gramatky! I think that Amy would be around 50 today and I know she hoped to get married and have children. She wrote that Dad `and the Mrs. were always so kind to the little girl from down the street.'"
