Elmer Stanhope Biography
Elmer Stanhope (1907 – 1956) Born in Berkeley, CA on July 23, 1907. Stanhope studied at the AIC and majored in art at San Jose State College. He then settled in Hayward, CA where he shared a studio with Will Frates. After service in WWII, he worked as an artist for the Hayward Water Dept. He died of a heart attack in Newport Beach, CA on July 24, 1956. Exh: Santa Cruz Art League, 1938; Alameda Co. Fair, 1948 (1st prize); Hayward AA, 1940s.
