Carl Westdahl Heilborn (1906-1954) Born in Astoria, OR on April 17, 1906. Heilborn studied art and architecture at the University of Oregon and, after settling in Los Angeles in 1927, at the Chouinard Art Institute. While in Holland and France in 1938, he was greatly influenced by the Fauvists. From 1935-49 he worked in the art departments of Universal Studios and 20th Century Fox. In 1950 he designed and built an exhibition gallery where he featured the works of other artists and his own. He died of heart failure in Los Angeles on April 26, 1954.
