Painted in El Segundo, a typical scene in the foothills of Southern California. The artist seemed to be searching for that hidden beauty that can be found almost anywhere one looks if so inclined. Like so many of the "scene painters", the subject could be anything including the otherwise banal.

Shown in a one-man show at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in March of 1942.
