"This is the mayor's residence in New York City, and at the time Dad painted it, we lived right across the street at 188 East End Avenue, a lovely brownstone where my folks had a railroad flat in the early 40's. I played in Carl Schurz Park, which surrounds Gracie Mansion. Mayor LaGuardia chose it as the mayor's house in 1942. I was born in Doctor's Hospital on this same street, and then when I was three we moved out to `the country'." This painting was exhibited in 1989 at the Bergen Museum of Art & Science.
