More About This Painting
"Oh, this painting takes me back to a summer’s afternoon in Old Lyme, Connecticut, and the beach cottage we’ve rented since 1974. Dad painted this the first summer we were there. The beach umbrellas, the colors, the sailboats we could rent for a half day, the children playing happily on the beach or out on the jetty, swimming in the Sound, all bring back wonderful memories."

Hardie Gramatky was raised in Southern California. He studied art with F. Tolles Chamberlin, Clarence Hinkle, Pruett Carter and Barse Miller.
