More About This Painting

"How my parents fell in love with Bantry Bay, Ireland! This trip was in 1977, just two years before Dad died and the trip on which they took their 9-year-old grandson. They were planning to take their granddaughter (our daughter, Tina) in 1979, but fate intervened. This church and theater were across from their hotel on the square. Tina and her husband, Michael O’Shea, visited the spot in 2004, and found that it looks almost the same. I’ve always loved the strong sunlight on the theater's whitewashed exterior, and that light must have reminded Dad of the strong sunlight for which early California watercolors are known. The painting was chosen for the 1977 AWS 110th Traveling Exhibit and was shown at the Bergen Museum of Art & Science retrospective exhibit in 1989."
