“This painting was done for Fortune magazine when Dad was a pictorial reporter covering the Mississippi flood. He mentioned in his notes “Cattle in the flood” so his heart must have gone out to these cows so isolated as the houses and barns floated away. My hope is that they survived until the flood waters receded.”
