More About This Painting
“This lovely house was torn down in the 80s to put up a shiny gold office building, one of Westport’s saddest hours. But fortunately, before that happened, Dad and five other artists were featured in the book published by North Light Six Artists Paint a Landscape (Dad, Walter deBois Richards, John Pellew, Stevan Dohanos, Alex Ross and Hans Walleen). It showed how each artist planned and executed a painting of this same house on Gorham Island, step by step. Fascinating! The small houses in the background are still some shops in Westport at the corner of Main Street and Avery Place.”
