More About This Painting
"This is the mayor’s residence in New York City, and at the time Dad painted it, we lived right across the street at 188 East End Avenue, a lovely brownstone where my folks had a railroad flat in the early 40’s. I played in Carl Schurz Park, which surrounds Gracie Mansion. Mayor LaGuardia chose it as the mayor’s house in 1942. I was born in Doctor’s Hospital on this same street, and then when I was three we moved out to `the country’." This painting was exhibited in 1989 at the Bergen Museum of Art & Science.
