About Frank J. Gavencky
| Frank Gavencky (1888-1966) Born: Chicago, IL; Studied: Chicago Academy of Fine Art; Member: Palette and Chisel Club, Bohemian Club. After developing a successful art career in Chicago, Frank Gavencky began spending extended periods of time in California. His opaque watercolors from the 1930s and 1940s depict a wide variety of subjects, including pastoral settings, cityscapes and marketplace scenes around Los Angeles. In the late 1940s, he settled in Southern California and spent the remainder of his life producing large scale oil paintings. (Read More) |
