Raymond Cuevas Biography
(1932 - 2020) Raymond Cuevas was born and raised in Los Angeles. After earning a scholarship from the Chouinard Art Institute, he was given the privilege of studying with Chouinard instructors Ed Reep, Harold Kramer, Rex Brandt and Elmer Plummer. After graduating from Chouinard, Cuevas studied painting and drawing with Arnold Mesches and Bentley Schaad at Otis Art Institute. During this time, he also worked as a commercial artist and award-winning graphic and advertising designer for more than twenty-five years. In 1985, he started painting, concentrating mostly on the unique landscape of the Los Angeles and San Gabriel areas. He is currently focusing on the remaining rural landscapes of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Cuevas began exhibiting his paintings in 1987, and his work is held in private collections throughout the United States. His paintings have been shown and auctioned at Bonhams and Butterfields, and Joh Moran Auctioneers, and he is listed in various art reference books. Raymond Cuevas is a member of the California Art Club.
