Milton Gershgoren (1909 - 1989) Born in Russia on Sept. 20, 1909. Gershgoren studied at the PAFA. After settling in southern California in the late 1930s, he further studied at the Otis and Jepson Art Institutes. While serving in the Army during WWII, he did a series of watercolors depicting military life. Following the war, he returned to California, established a studio-home in Hollywood, and began painting transparent watercolors in an abstract style. He was active in southern California until his death in Los Angeles on Nov. 10, 1989. Exh: Calif. WC Society, 1945-55; Businessmens Art Inst. (LA), 1948; Library of Congress, 1955.
