Bungalow Spring, 1984, an original watercolor painting by Carolyn Lord.
The first thing I noticed in this scene was the pink flowering almond, set off by the yellow flowering acacia. The acacia also begins a series of transitions around the color wheel: starting with the greenish yellow of the acacia; followed by the orange-based green of the bungalow; to the faded greens of the fence slats that become more emerald as the eye moves from left to right; then the background fence and garage is a soft turquoise blue; ending with the blue sky of a spring day. Hidden in the dappled shadows, is the resident cat. - Carolyn Lord
