Bee Bliss, 2013, an original watercolor painting by Carolyn Lord.
For a few years, my husband kept bees in Langstroth hives in our backyard. The hives were set at one end of the flower garden with opening of the hive facing south. This allowed the bees to orient themselves to the sun and use the garden as their flight path as they flew away from, and returned to the hive. Painted white, the hives were a simple, geometric form that provided an area of visual calm in a vibrant flower garden. - Carolyn Lord
