Paul Julian (1914-1995) Painter, lithographer, muralist. Born in Illinois on June 23, 1914. Julian moved to California in the early 1930s. He studied with Lawrence Murphy, Millard Sheets, Belmore Brown, Esther Julian, Charles Paine, and at the Chouinard Art School. By 1939 he was a resident of Santa Barbara and in 1942 an employee of the Federal Art Project. He was active in the Los Angeles art scene into the 1950s. He died in Van Nuys, CA on Sept. 5, 1995. Exh: Oakland Art Gallery, 1936 (2nd prize); Calif. State Fair, 1936 (1st prize); Santa Cruz Art League, 1936, 1938; Oakland Art Gallery, 1936, 1939; GGIE, 1939; Calif. WC Society, 1950s. Murals: Fullerton (CA) Post Office; U.S. Armory (Santa Barbara); Belvedere Gardens School (LA); Upland (CA) Elementary School; Santa Barbara County Clinic. WWAA 1938-41; SS.
